The Arabian Tahr (Arabitragus jayakari) is a mammal indigenous to Oman. It inhabits rugged mountain terrain of the hajar mountains in northern oman and the uae.

The Arabian tahr is one of the most endangered large mammals in the Arabian Peninsula, found only in the Hajar Mountains
It is the smallest member of the goat family (Caprinae), weighing only 17–25 kg and standing just 60 cm tall at the shoulder
They have rubbery hooves that provide excellent grip on steep, rocky mountain slopes that would defeat most other animals
In Oman, the tahr is a symbol of the country's mountain heritage and is protected in several nature reserves including Wadi Sareen
Unlike many mountain goats, they drink water regularly from mountain streams and springs, making water access critical to their survival
